When in Baguio City

I have been to Baguio City 4 times since January of this year (2014), beat that! Actually most of my trips to Baguio are work related, so here you go, some more tips about the summer capital of the Philippines

  • Cold Temperature. Baguio City is at its coldest temperature from November to February, in which the temperature would drop as low as 8° C.If you want to experience Baguio at its coldest, then be sure to climb up during these months.

  • Summer Capital. Baguio City is dubbed as the summer capital of the Philippines because it is one of the places in the country where you can enjoy the cool weather during the summer season. Temperature ranges from 20° to 25° C during summer. If you prefer the cool weather rather than bask under the heat of the sun in the various beaches in the country, then Baguio City is the best place for you.
  • Coffee! Most people prefer to drink hot coffee in the cold Baguio City. If you're in Burnham Park, you might have noticed some vendors carrying around with them a basket containing a bottle/thermos of hot water, disposable styro cups, and jars of coffee, sugar, and milk/creamer. These vendors are selling a cup of instant coffee for PhP10.00. However, if you're the type who prefers brewed coffee, you may visit some coffee shops around Baguio such as the Under the Tree Book Cafe near the Baden Powell Inn along Gov. Pack Road,  and Beans Talk along Session Road.
  • Coffee Beans. If you want to bring home some coffee beans (or you may have it ground for free), you may visit the shops in the super market selling different blends of coffee beans such as Kalinga, Benguet, Baraco, and my favorite Arabica blend. They also sell hazelnut, irish, and vanilla flavored coffee beans.
  • Good Shepherd. If you want to buy goodies from Good Shepherd, take note that they are only open until 5pm.
  • Sagada Orange. The big oranges that they dubbed as "Sagada Orange" are really not from Sagada. They are sold cheaply outside of the Mansion.
  • Transportation. Travel time to Baguio City from Metro Manila usually takes about 6 to 8 hrs. However, if you want to get to Baguio in 5 to 6 hrs, you may opt to take the Victory Liner deluxe / first class trips. Deluxe trips to Baguio is a non-stop trip via NLEX, SCTEX, and TPLEX. They provide water and light snacks on board. If you are taking the 10am trip, be sure to bring with you some food for lunch as the trip doesnt get you the chance to buy food from Dau in Pampanga or from Siesta in Tarlac. They also have a restroom, WIFI, and power outlets on board. I recommend that you get 17 and 18 seats if you're travelling with someone as this is the most accessible to the rest room.
